How to make a Pull String Pinata
To make a pull string pinata all you need is an craft knife, bridal ribbon (pull string) at least
8 inches long, pen or marker, and some tape. Do this at least 24 hours ahead of party time.
First thing you need to do it decide how big you want your door on the pull string pinata. Draw
with your pen a square. You will want it to be at least 6 inches by 4 inches, maybe a little bigger depending on
what kind of goodies you put in it. After you decide where you want it to be, cut on three sides of your square
with your craft knife.
Fold down gently on the door so that it opens easily by creating a fold on the side of the square
you did not cut. Poke a small hole in the door and string a piece of bridal ribbon (pull string) through the door.
Tie the pull string in a knot so it does not slip out. Of course you will want the knot to be inside your pinata
when you close the door and the streamer (pull string) to hang outside of the pinata. If the door will not stay
shut use a piece of tape and tape it shut or use our paper
mache recipe to reseal it. If you use the paper mache method only put on one light layer of it.
Note that before you do this if you have any large toys or goodies you are going to put inside
the pinata that may not fit through the hole that you are suppose to use to fill it, you may want to go ahead and
put them in the pinata. After that step is completed you will want to take the bridal ribbon (pull string) and
cut many pieces about the same length as you did the first piece of streamer and tape them or glue them to the
bottom of your pull string pinata. Fill your pinata and then hang, and wait for the party festivities to begin.
